Ali Bagg (recipient), 18, from Kingston, Captain of the Women’s Midget ‘AA’ Hockey Club and Tsunami Relief Co-organizer, who feels she has tamed the self-described “monster” within, “I look forward to playing hockey for a university in Canada…I still dream of representing my country because I know now I can do anything I want and that diabetes will not slow me down…”
Matt Palmer (alumni), 22, from Toronto, “I have always had a learning disability in addition to my diabetes. I had been told to expect that I wouldn’t be able to go to college. This scholarship gave me the extra motivation to go out and achieve all of my goals. Once again this year I made the Dean’s list at Ryerson in finance. Everything that stops me only encourages me to go further.”
