Working together to achieve wonderful results
|
"Hope" is a small four-letter word
that says more about Diabetes Hope Foundation than a list of statistics ever could.
It comes in the form of a wide smile from a hard-working student whose commitment
to managing his diabetes and his studies has earned him a scholarship to attend
university.
This year we celebrate '10 Years of Hope' by acknowledging the
incredible achievements of 237 young adults who have successfully
managed their health and their lives. Congratulations to our 2008 Diabetes Hope
Scholarship recipients for being our 2008 Champions of Hope.
Our stellar Diabetes Hope Scholarship recipients of yesterday are tomorrow's role
models for younger children facing the minute-to-minute challenges of living with
diabetes.
Many thanks to our partners, sponsors
and friends for helping us envision a world without diabetes. Their commitment has
awarded a Diabetes Hope Scholarship to 237 young adults. These awards recognize
the unwavering commitment these students have to managing their health, all the
while becoming champions in their communities, studies and extracurricular activities.
These champions of today are our role models for tomorrow. They are the ones who
will show newly-diagnosed children and adolescents that anything is possible. They
will also help us continue to expand our Circle of Hope across Canada.
As I look back at our successes over the past decade I am proud of what we have
achieved together. Diabetes Hope Foundation has come a long way in 10 years, raising
$3.5 million to enhance the lives of children and youth living with diabetes.
We are proud to share with you our outstanding successes:
- DHF has raised $3.5 million to support our three programs
- DHF has awarded 237 educational scholarships to exceptional young
adults
- NEW in 2007 / 2008 – 8 scholarships awarded in Newfoundland
- NEW in 2008 - 4 scholarships awarded in British Columbia
- DHF has assisted over 60 families through our Medical Assistance
Programs across Canada
- DHF partners with 10 Paediatric Diabetes Clinics in Ontario, Newfoundland and British
Columbia

financially challenged children are able to ‘live the Camp Huronda experience'
We are excited to host our 2nd Annual Diabetes Walk for Hope on September 21, 2008
at Etienne Brule Park. Please join us so that together, we can help more young people
living with diabetes thrive in school, sports and in their communities, while managing
the minute-to-minute challenges of this disease.
Truly grateful,

Barbara Pasternak
