DEBORAH SLOAN (2001 DHF Alumni)
Debora is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Personal Trainer, and CrossFit Level 1 Certified Coach. She completed her BSc. in Nutrition and Dietetics at Western University and has been living with Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 12. As a certified fitness and nutrition professional, an athlete, and a busy mom of two, Deb understands the many challenges involved in balancing life, healthy living, and proper fueling
RAVJOT SAMRA (2013 DHF Alumni)
Ravjot (Rav) Samra is currently the Program Director for DHF, and she received her DHF Scholarship in 2013. She graduated from Ryerson University and received her BASc. in the Occupational Health and Safety Co-op program and a certificate in Human Resources Management. Rav has had T1D since she was two years old, and her experiences with T1D have made her passionate about diabetes advocacy, mentorship, and supporting those in the community living with it.
CLARA THAYSEN (2013 DHF Alumni)
Clara has a MSc. in Ecology and Environmental Chemistry from the University of Toronto. She has developed interdisciplinary experience in scientific research, community outreach, and both academic and non-academic science writing. Clara has been living with diabetes since the age of 13 and likes to spend her time doing activities in spite of her diabetes including rock climbing, cycling, and hiking.
Rajitha Gunaseelan (2019 Alumni)
Rajitha is a 3rd year student in Business Economics at Glendon, York University. Her goal is to achieve valuable career tools in decision-making and leadership from a business economics perspective. Outside of school, she volunteers her time to lead diabetes workshops and is focused on a wide scope of environmental issues within her school and city. Rajitha has been living with diabetes since the age of four and advocates for it. She loves to spend her free time experimenting with new diabetes-friendly recipes to manage her health while she’s busy at school.
